About Figures&Policy

Figures&Policy supports a sustainable and scientifically underpinned policy for the coast and sea by providing policy-relevant scientific information. The products of Figures&Policy target the coast-and-sea-professionals, scientists, policymakers and specific target groups. Figures&Policy is primarily focused on the Belgian part of the North Sea, the Flemish coast and adjacent estuaries, whereas the North Sea and European seas provide a broader frame of reference. In order to fulfill this mission, close collaboration with the network of Flemish marine scientists and with the other departments of VLIZ is indispensable.

• Compendium for Coast and Sea: An integrated document about the socio-economical, ecological and institutional aspects of the coast and the sea in Flanders and Belgium
• Policy Support: Policy-informing briefs (Dutch), projects in support of an integrated and sustainable coastal zone management, data- and information systems
• Indicators: Indicator sets in support of a sustainable and integrated management of coastal and marine areas and estuaries
• Products&Projects: History of marine sciences, history of sea fisheries, history of oyster farming, alien species and the Belgian register of marine species
• SeaStats: Scientifically underpinned figures about coast and sea.
