VLIZ Young Scientists’ Day Marine Sciences (31 March 2006)

The day is nearing again... For the sixth time VLIZ is organizing the ‘Young Scientists’ Day Marine Sciences’ on Friday 31 March 2006. Every year this marine happening attracts 100-200 mainly young predoctorate scientists from the North Sea region. The objectives - as with the previous six editions - are to offer young, predoctorate scientists a forum to present their research and an opportunity to meet other scientists in an informal interdisciplinary ‘sea atmosphere’.
The concept of the day will be the same as the previous years. New is the organization of a photo contest open to all participants featuring the topic ‘the North Sea’. The digital photographs (max. 4) should be sent by 20 February at the latest to info@vliz.be (format, min. 20x25cm and max. 40x50cm - 300 dpi, filename: FamName_FirstName.jpg). In case of a massive interest, VLIZ is entitled to withhold only one or a limited selection of images. The winner, appointed by the participants present, will be awarded a prize at the end of the day.
We count on you to turn this event into a success. Your posters and demos will be indispensable to allow other visitors to get an overview of what is happening among young marine scientists. We invite you to submit an English abstract, of no more than 500 words, before 20 February 2006 (cf. enclosed abstract template). The abstracts will be published as a quotable VLIZ Special Publication. The best posters will be awarded a certificate.
