Services for scientists
The Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) is the international contact point for marine and coastal related research in Belgium and is certainly able to help you!
The VLIZ was in the first place established to offer support to the hundreds of marine and coastal scientists who are active in Flanders.
This means that you can call upon the VLIZ for various services, including facilities for your research activities in the form of ship time on board the Zeeleeuw or space to experiment in the greenhouses of De Haan, for borrowing equipment or for the temporary storage of samples.
Within the scope of numerous cooperation projects the data- and information center (VMDC) of the VLIZ not only offers logistic support but also provides assistance for the development of data and information systems in accordance with the latest international standards or for the communication of the project (e.g. website development, organisation of workshops).
In addition, you can also benefit from the services of the VLIZ marine library (e.g. searching or purchasing publications that are difficult to find) or ask questions, download images or much more through the infodesk.
And above all, we are glad to help you give greater publicity to your research activities and results in one of our publications or within the scope of one of the many events organised by the VLIZ.
