Zeekrant
To present the coastal tourists a range of titbits of correct marine information! This is the aim of the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) and the Province of West-Flanders by publishing the yearly summer newspaper 'Zeekrant'.
The 'Zeekrant' is printed in 75.000 copies. The newspaper is available for free in all visitor's centra, libraries and tourist offices along the Belgian coast from the 8th of June (World Ocean Day) onwards. You can also pick up your copy at the Flanders Marine Institute during office hours (Wandelaarkaai 7, 8400 Oostende). For the moment the publication is only available in Dutch.
The last number can be digitally glanced through or downloaded (
- 1,5Mb).
The fourth edition of the Zeekrant 2011 starts with an article on tsunamis in the North Sea and forces down some respect and humility towards the sea. In contrast, the sea offers a lot of value to us. And this exciting news we want you to inform you about: on jellyfish making the invisible visible, on sandbanks with a story, about the comeback of the porpoises and the moving of the cod, about the status of bluefin tuna and so much more.
Former editions are available in the archive (in Dutch only).
