Logistic support

The VLIZ provides logistic support to researchers by taking care of the management, maintenance and manipulation of research infrastructure and equipment.

The oceanographic research vessel ‘Zeeleeuw’ can be used in the Belgian and adjacent coastal waters as well as in the Scheldt estuary. The ‘Zeekat' is a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) that can be used both from the Zeeleeuw and autonomously. The VLIZ also manages the greenhouses in De Haan. We furthermore put equipment and storage facilities at the disposal of Flemish scientists. Upon request, VLIZ can put meeting and conference room facilities at your disposal and provide a printing service for scientific posters.

The VLIZ is currently conducting a feasibility study with a view to the replacement of the ‘Zeeleeuw’ by a new Flemish research vessel in the near future.
