Collection

The Marine Library manages the most comprehensive collection of marine scientific literature in Belgium.

The collection mainly consists of documents and multimedia on the Southern Bight of the North Sea, the Belgian coastal zone, the Flemish dune and polder belt and the tidal rivers and estuaries.

We furthermore collect all publications by Flemish and Belgian marine scientists - even if their research concerns foreign marine areas - and all foreign publications on the above-mentioned marine zones. These publications are electronically available and can be downloaded from your own computer.

The collection is further complemented with all relevant international literature and multimedia that offer support to all disciplines of Flemish marine research.

In addition, special attention is paid to the creation of a collection of general books on the marine environment aimed at the public at large.
