- Wind and Sea: a huge list of oceanic and atmospheric sites, photo and video directories, managed by NOAA.
- The most important gateways for open-access scientific information are:

- OpenDOAR Directory of Open Access Repositories
- SPARC Directory of Open Access Digital Resources
- Google Scholar: this engine searches all scientific sources (such as scientific publishers, university sites and scientific institutes) in depth and furthermore makes use of citation linking. Try it yourself and enter the terms ‘north sea Belgium’ to experience the power of this search engine!
- Scientific Search Engines gives an overview of specialised search engines and link pages on scientific information.
