Abstract
Decleir, W.; Richard, A.; Lemaire, J.; Wolf, G. (1977). L'hémocyanine et la glande branchiale de Sepia officinalis L. (Mollusque Céphalopode). [Hemocyanin and the branchial gland in Sepia officinalis L. (Mollusca, Cephalopoda).]. Ann. Soc. r. Zool. Belg. 106(2-4): 133-144
The branchial gland from the cuttlefish (cephalopod mollusc) consists of extensively irrigated tissue, which shows a typical ultrastructure of protein-secreting cells: prominent nucleolus, elaborate system of granular endoplasmic reticulum and active Golgi apparatus. The possible hemopoietic role of the gland is sustained by our biochemical results.
