Some amounts are reserved for expenses in 2020, i.e. the built up reserves of WoRMS editors and Marine Life in Chile, as well as the payment of the final amounts of the Brilliant Marine Research Idea grants 2019.

Thanks to the increased income for 'The Sea as a Good Cause', we will be able to support more marine scientists in their research in 2020 and 2021. How we spend your contributions is carefully considered. In addition to the ongoing investments in projects and funds, VLIZ philanthropy focuses on several new projects. In the annual report for donors (p. 12) you can read how this will happen.

Transparancy

Your gift will be used to support projects that benefit the sea. You can rest assured that this is done transparently.
