Description
The biodiversity of microphytobenthos and its spatial and temporal variability along the salinity gradient in the Westerschelde is described using a molecular approach in addition to the classical taxonomy. more

A large number of species is isolated and a phylogenetic tree of the 18S rDNA of the diatoms is produced. This will be related to function i.e. primary production.
