Fish collection collected during fishery research cruises in South Atlantic and Southern Ocean next to South Georgia, Sandwich and Shetland Islands. more

Fish collection hosted in National Research Institute and Fishery Development (INIDEP) under curatorial of Ichthyologic group of the Marine Science Department of Mar del Plata University. The specimens belong to South Atlantic and Southern Ocean next to South Georgia, Sandwich and Shetland Islands. Samples were collected during fishery research cruises of Argentina (BI Cruz del Sur Capitán Oca Balda, Eduardo L. Holmberg Capitán Cánepa) of Japan (BIP Orient Maru, BI Kayo Maru and Shinkai Maru) and ships with Russian (BI Evrika) and German flags (BI Walther Herwig). There are also samples obtained on board commercial fishing vessels and coastal fleet operating in Mar del Plata wharf. The samples have been fixed in formaldehyde 10% and preserved in alcohol 70%. Previously, bony fishes were measured (total and standard length), in the cartilaginous the total length and the seks were determined. The nomenclature was actualized following Nelson (2006).
