The aim of this study is: a) an inventarisation of the microphytobenthic communities in these estuaries (+ taxonomy of species); b) to study the structure of these communities with the aid of multivariate techniques; c) to relate the distribution (spatial and temporal) of these communities with selected environmental parameters. About 75 sites in the Westerschelde Estuary (the Netherlands) and the Yzer Estuary (Belgium)
