Abstract
REMARCC- the Network of Regional Maritime Competence Centres has been started in Bremen, Germany in 2002 and has a project life of 38 months. The aim of the project which is funded within the INTERREG IIIB programme of the European Commission is the promotion of short sea shipping and inland waterway as main components of intermodal transport, and its contribution towards the future development of the North Sea Region. Higher efficiency of transport corridors and networks in the North Sea Region, strengthening of sea ports and ports position in intermodal transport and logistic chains, better integration and use of information- and communication technologies as well as improved interaction and communication between actors in the transport and logistic sector and decision makers are aimed to be achieved.
