The Port Areas of Ghent & Zeeland Seaports: Stronger together?

Dutch title: Havengebieden Gent & Zeeland Seaports: Samen sterker?
Period: July 2005 till October 2005
Status: Completed

Thesaurus terms: Cooperation; Ports; Strategy

Abstract
In this EURICUR research, both possibilities will be investigated, and moreover, opportunities (if present) to improve cooperation will be identified, and recommendations to accomplish more collobaration will be given. To these ends, the researchers will use existing literature, an international benchmark of cooperation between other port managers based on ‘secondary sources’ such as annual reports, and an ‘in depth’ case study of the cooperation between the port managers of Malme; and Copenhagen. To analyse the situation in Ghent and Zeeland, an enquiry will be done among relevant decision makers in both port areas. After this enquiry, face-to-face interviews will be organised to elaborate on the relevant themes, and to gain insight into the support for joint projects.
