- To establish the scope of Noda viral infections in Europe and to determine the potential economic threat facing the industry from this infection.
- To study the epidemiology in the light of the 1995 outbreak of the virus conduct a sampling campaign to determine its spread.
- Prepare a state of the art report on what is known about the virus and possible ways to limit its spread and combat it.
