Abstract
Several experiments were made with a two-dimensional model of the Eastern Scheldt to investigate the effect of advection term approximations in hydrodynamic equations on tidal propagation. Furthermore, the comparative importance of timestep size, gridsize, dept accuracy, roughness estimates, approximations of turbulence closure, and horizontal momentum exchange was assessed. Analysis of tidal propagation resulted in a practical method for adjusting models that are similar to the model of the Eastern Scheldt.
