Abstract
For the optimalization of the dredging and dumping operation of the Western Schelde a detailed numerical model is developed in combination with a large measuring campaign and literature study. The paper discusses the secondary currents which are present around the " sills " of the Western Scheldt and their influence on the residual sediment transport and the bed evolution. The results of this study are compared with the measuring campaign around the Sill of Hansweert.
