Abstract
Because of the temperature of coastal waters will probably rise in the next 50-100 years, some possible effects of this temperature change on fish populations in coastal areas, particularly the Wadden Sea, are discussed. This discussion is based on a comparison of some fish populations existing in the Wadden Sea and in two Portuguese estuaries (Tagus and Mira), both having higher average temperatures than the Wadden Sea.
