Abstract
A new species of diatoms, intermediate between Nitzschia cylindrus (Grun.) Hasle and Nitzschia pseudonana Hasle is described. Differences in morphology of the three species are outlined. The new species has been recorded only between 37 degree N and 53 degree N in the Pacific Ocean while N. Cylindrus is bipolar and N. Pseudonana is cosmopolitan in distribution.
