Abstract
A quantitative study of the mesobenthos of the northeastern zone of t he Cuban shelf was made during 1976, 1978, and 1979. Samples were tak en using Bacescu sounding, and were separated in sieves of 2, 1, and 0,5 mm mesh aperture, in 13 stations situated in transepts perpendicular to the shore. The most prevalent groups were: foraminiferans, nema todes, nemertineans, oligochaetes, polychaetes, mollusks, and crustac eans. The most productive areas were Caibarien and Cardenas, whereas the Isabela de Sagua was the poorest.
