Abstract
The bacteriological contamination of sea water and marine sediments was studied in two stations situated in the shore zone of the Mamaïa Bay (one near the Romanian Marine Research Institute - RMRI, and another near the Casino Complex), between March-April, 1998. The following species of bacteria: heterotrophic germs, sulphite deoxiding bacteria, coliform bacteria, streptococci, Aeromonas, Pseudomonas, Vibrio, Cytophagaceae were determined. The bacterial charge was always higher in the sediments. The maximum values registered in the RMRI station were the heterotrophic bacteria reached 400,000 germs/ml water and 5,000,000 germs/g sediment. The potential pathogens Aeromonas and Vibrio for the marine organisms reached a level of 8,000 germs/ml water and 25,000 germs/g sediment.
