Abstract
A two-compartment model of developing calanoid copepods is proposed. One compartment is tentatively identified with the oil sac of copepodites and determines the rate of growth of the other. The developmental stage of the copepod is taken to be a measure of the second compartment. Parameter values are estimated for copepodites of Calanus pacificus using existing data. Respiration appears to be directly proportional to the estimated size of the second compartment.
