Abstract
After the mass mortalities of Ostrea edulis, some experiments have been realised with O. chilensis broodstock and spat coming from Chiloe Island (Chili). In the same time we have cultivated spat of the same species produced in hatchery. After a first small growing, these oysters died during summer. Microscopic observations shown Marteilia refringens and Bonamia ostreae in the oysters tissu. For these different reasons, Ostrea chilensis have not been retained to replace temporarily O. edulis.
