Abstract
In this chapter the author reviews and examines the effects of abiotic factors on migrant shorebirds, and report the results of a year-long study of the abiotic factors affecting the abundance and distribution of shorebirds at a coastal estuary in New York. Abiotic factors examined include temporal (time of day, time of year), tidal (tide time, tide height), weather-related (temperature, wind could cover) and habitat variables.
