Abstract
An endemic Australian marine species Bankivia fasciata fam. Trochidae, has been recorded twice from the Gulf of Aqaba. An alleged record from Elat, truned out to have been based on misleading information on a secondary label. In the mean time, the reliability of the second record from Na'ama Bay has also been questioned. This means that Bankivia fasciata can not be considered an exotic species in the Red Sea
