Abstract
Los Roques, a Caribbean archipelago off Venezuela, is one of the few oceanic parks in the world. It has a diverse flora and fauna and supports a thriving local fishing industry. Despite protection offered by its national park status improvements to fishing productivity made by a marine research station, there is still a great threat to the ecology and economy of the island group from apathy and abuse.
