| Abstract |
A short survey is given of the present state of the art of waste incineration at sea. Slides of the ships, etc. are shown. Topics discussed are ao: the environmental impact (if any), sources of real pollution of the North Sea, the PCB-waste problem, the risk of PCB-transport in bulk by ships, the feasability of at-sea incineration of low-level PCB-waste (less than 1%w/w). It is concluded that there exists no scientific or practical arguments against the technique and that terminating at-sea incineration at short notice will have a negative effect on the environment. |
