| Abstract |
In the present work, bathymetric distribution and topography of epiphytes on Halimeda tuna is considered. H. tuna belongs to the Udoteo-Peyssonnelietum association, and is present in the Mediterranean Sea all through the year, being well distributed in a wide range of depth. Among the 58 determined epiphytic species, 20.3% is present at all depth levels, while 47.4% appears only in one or few depth levels. Localisation of epiphyte on host depends on morphology as well as on ecological requirements. Basiphyte surfaces less covered were found to be the younger parts. |
