| Abstract |
A summary of a set of papers so different in scope and dealing with such a variety of topics as that presented at this meeting is a somewhat difficult task, which, it is thought, may be simplified to some extent by concentrating on the more debatable points of the papers read. But the fact that in the present review less attention is paid to some papers, which mainly consist of statements of fact and descriptions of the present shellfish situation in the countries concerned, than to others does not imply that these papers are of more limited scientific merit. Although classification of a heterogeneous collection of papers like the set under consideration is rather hazardous, an effort has been made to arrange them in a logical way in the present review. |
