Abstract |
Rock pools situated on islands close to the Tvarminne Zoological Station, southern archipelago of Finland, were investigated and various micrometazoan groups were recorded, namely: Turbellaria, Rotifera, Nematoda and Arthropoda. Nematodes were surprisingly few in numbers and when present they appeared to be immigrants from intertidal algae or terrestrial moss-carpets. It is concluded that the presence of nematodes in Baltic rock pools is an occasional phenomenon, with no resident breeding populations. |
