Abstract
    (1) Eels were injected intraperitoneal with glucagon (0.2-2.0 mg/kg) and during a 6 hour period the effects on following parameters were studied: hematocrit, Hb, blood glucose, blood lactate, plasma FFA, plasma protein and plasma chloride. (2) A slight anemic response was observed after treatment with glucagon (2.0 mg/kg). (3) Glucagon produced a marked hyperglycemia, but had no effect on the blood lactate level. (4) Glucagon did not cause any change in plasma FFA, indicating an unimportant lipolytic role of this hormone in eels.
