Abstract
The Recent species of the genus Callumbonell from the Mediterranean and east Atlantic are studied and comparison is made with a similar species found in deep water off Namibia. The species Callumbonella gorgonarum from the Cape Verde Archipelago is considered valid. It is concluded that the Namibian species is different and it is described as such in the present work. Comparison is made of the morphological characters of the shell, soft parts, operculum and radula. The placement of this genus is discussed due to the differences of anatomical and radular characters when compared with the subfamilies in Trochidae.
