Abstract
The length frequency distribution of the shrimp population in the tidal flat area Balgzand in the western Wadden Sea shows a spatial separation between the adult shrimps, that inhabit the subtidal, and the juveniles (<2,5cm) that are restricted to the tidal zone. Observations in the tidal channel through the tides indicate that the juvenile population does not show migration of any importance from the tidal zone during ebb. Samples on the emerged flats during LW proof the presence of these juveniles in about the same densities as observed during HW.
