Abstract
    Escaut River (Netherlands) estuary is one of the most exploited estuaries of Northern Europe: navigation, dredging, polders. Despite this industrial intensification, the ecological contribution of the estuary to the area still remains important, and requires more intensive research programms on evolution of ecosystem, contribution of human activities to this drastic evolution, and prediction of long term evolution of the system. Programming of an urging master plan for limitation of sand and coarse sediment dredging, planing of the distance between sites of dredging and releasing sediments, assessment of polderization and sunk meadow making for an eventual limitation is required
