Abstract
The flushing sampler for sampling benthos in shallow water, described by the authors in 1975, has been modified. By means of a valve in the apparatus and a reversible water-supply system, the sampler can suck itself into the sediment. These modifications also make it easier to lift the apparatus out of the sediment.
