Abstract
To determine the amounts of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) originating from different sources in the Ems-Dollart, the influx from the fresh water and the amount produced by phytoplankton were calculated. From the linear relation between fluorescence and DOC the amount of DOC produced in the most seaward part of the estuary was calculated at 64 g.m-2.a-1, 16 to 32% of the annual primary production.
