Abstract
The nonequilibrium transport of suspended sediment in an open channel is studied at an abrupt change from a nonerodible to an erodible bed. The convective-diffusion equation is solved for the case of constant velocity distribution and parabolic eddy diffusion coefficient. Diffusion in the direction of flow is neglected. Graphs of the concentration distribution, the channel-depth average concentration and the scour rate are presented.
