Abstract
The paper gives a description of characteristics of an original ""hybrid"" propulsion and manoeuvring system applied to river pushboats. Propulsive aspects of the system are shown through a comparative analysis in relation to the propulsive performances of conventional pushboats. Manoeuvring performances of the system are analysed by calculations of steady turn manoeuvre of pushed convoys. Absolute and relative improvements gained by the hybrid propulsive system are given.
