Abstract
Record of the genus Polymerurus from marine habitat. Description of two new species from the Bay of Naples (Gastrotricha, Chaetonotoidae). The previously described species from the genus Polymerurus were only recorded from fresh water habitat. Two new species were found in the Mediterranean sea. P. delamarei n. sp. Main characteristics include an elongated body covered with spine-bearing scales. Their size increases from anterior to posterior part of body. Cephalion and pleurions lacking. Furca largely developed with long toes and adhesive tubules. Hermaphroditic. P. tesselatus n. sp. has a body divided into three distinct parts bearing a differentcoat of scales. Head covered with large plates, cephalion and pleurions present. Trunk bearing lateral scales with helicoidal processes and one large prefurcal spine. Furca with elongated toes covered with small ovoid scales. Adhesive tubules present.
