Abstract
Data are given on the forage base of three reef fish species, Myripristis murdjan, Mulloidichthys auriflamma and Caesio coerulaureus obtained during the Indonesian-Dutch Snellius-II Expedition. Attention is given to relations with the environment and sampling techniques. Fishing with gill nets is the best sampling method, particularly for migratory species. Seasonal fishing for pelagic fishes is most important from an economic point of view. Additional exploitation of benthic and demersal resources is essential for subsistence.
