Abstract
Anatomical modifications, immunohistochemisty and cytology of the pancreas during metamorphosis of Bufo Bufo were studied. Endocrine insulin-producing cells appear at the beginning of metamorphosis, cells producing glucagon, somatostatin (14) and pancreatic polypeptide (PP) appear together, a few days later. Extensive anatomical remoddeling, determined by programmed cell death and mitosis occured during metamorphic climax and later, until the adult structure is attained
