Abstract
Sex conditions have been studied in 3 strains of Ophryotrocha labronica. They are gonochoristic with different, but constant sex ratios. Males can be discerned from the 6-setiger-stage, females from the 8-setiger-stage. By selection through 5 generations the male ratio was increased 20%. No decrease was obtained. In subsequent crosses the progeny expressed the sex ratio of the mother's strain. Between 2 strains with different sex ratio both reciprocal crosses approached an 1:1 ratio. Environmental factors do not seem to affect the sex ratio. Previous statements about sex conditions are discussed.
