| Abstract |
The sections making up this edition of the journal Océanis represent lectures given recently at the Institut océanographique de Paris (as part of a course for doctoral students). Only chosen pieces are given here, dealing particularly with domains attracting current public attention. Although environmental protection is currently the subject of many legal concerns, only a few paragraphs on it appear here, as the theme is to be dealt with in a forthcoming edition. Aspects concerning how the law applies differently in different sea areas are favoured here, since a good knowledge of them is indispensable to users of the sea concerned to know which jurisdiction applies in any particular place. Two further chapters are devoted respectively to fisheries and to law and order at sea. |
