Abstract
Seasonal fluctuations of the meat content of blue mussels were recorded together with their parasitation. From these data the correlation between numbers of Mytilicola intestinalis and the meat content of the respective mussel was analysed statistically. Meat content of mussels was lowest when spawning occurred (May). Fluctuations of meat content of parasitized and non-parasitized mussels did not reveal any marked differences. Statistical analysis of the relationship between number of parasites and meat content of mussels gave no proof of significant correlation.
