Abstract
Taking the number of identified taxa as a basis, Diatoms highly prevail in all environments considered, with a maximal dominance in freshwater, and minimal in brackish water. On the contrary Chlorophytes, and Cyanobacteria in a lesser degree, are much more diversified in brackish water. Some species, notably Chlorophytes, seem especially well adapted to the very particular environment of the Etang of Berre.
