Abstract
The Famennian and Dinantian of the Zonguldak Basin contain a succession of foraminiferal zones comparable to those of Russia and Western Europe. The foraminiferal assemblage of the Chernyshinella glomiformis zone resembles that of Russia rather than that of Western Europe. The major transgressions (Fa2-Tn1; Tn2; V1; V2b) are comparable to those detected in W. Europe by R. CONIL (Belgium) and W. RAMSBOTTOM (England). All the biofacies encountered are of shallow-water type, often rich in foraminiferans and algae and very poor in conodonts.
