Abstract
"Synechodus" jurensis SCHWEIZER, 1964, known on the basis of a single specimen from the Plattenkalk (Tithonian, Late Jurassic) of Nusplingen (Germany), is redescribed. Special attention is paid to the ontogenetic and non-linear gradient monognathic heterodonty. From these descriptions it is concluded that the specimen should beallocated to the genus Paraorthacodus GLYCKMAN, 1957. P. jurensis fed on the small chimaeroid Ischyodus avitus which it captured head first.
