Abstract
On the base of the study of the collections of the fish leeches in Zoological Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and published data the regularities of the geographical distribution of the fish leeches in different regions of the World Ocean are discussed. The peculiarities of the fauna of fish leeches of the Arctic Ocean, northern seas, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, tropic seas, Subantarctic and Antarctic waters are indicated. When comparing different faunistic groups an idea is put forward that all the marine leeches can be divided into three groups by the morphological and zoogeographic data: leeches of the tropic origin (the most primitive), leeches inhabiting the northern regions of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the Arctic Ocean and, finally, leeches of Antarctic and Subantarctic waters.
