Abstract
Marine plankton and the pesticides used on land can meet in coastal waters. Even when highly diluted, the treatment products and their residues conveyed by the runoff water sooner or later enter estuary and then coastal waters. The result is metabolic disturbances, breeding of tolerant species, changes in natural balances and even alteration of ecosystems.
