Abstract
We review the biology of the Cirripedia Rhizocephala with emphasis on life cycles, ecology, reproductive systems, and larval biology, while parasite morphology and relation to the host receives little attention. The introduction of experimental methods has contributed immensely to our knowledge about these obligatory parasites and has revealed a diversity of life cycles and reproductive systems. Quantitative data are presented on aspects of growth rates, moulting and reproductive cycles, and larval development. A greater variation exists within the suborder Akentrogonida than in the Kentrogonida
